Don’t call her a cowgirl until you see her boot collection!
When I start to plan and envision outfits to wear for whatever event or activity I have coming up, my rule of thumb is to always start with a statement piece, then proceed to style the rest of the outfit around that specific item. I’ll be honest, that 9 times out of 10, my boots or shoes are the last piece I usually reach for to finalize my look. However, with these turquoise stitched Durango from Zappos boots, I wanted these beauties to be the focal point of my outfit!
There’s a common saying among western fashion enthusiasts, “turquoise over diamonds.” What first caught my eye about this specific pair of Durango’s was the fact that it looked like there was a turquoise and silver squash blossom necklace attached right there on the boots! As I mentioned before, I always try to style an outfit around a statement piece, so I knew right away I wanted the squash blossom stitching to pop. I channeled my inner Johnny Cash in all black to really let the turquoise stitching stand out. I added a few genuine turquoise jewelry pieces to really pull the look together. This particular boot comes in three colors, but it was hard to resist the turquoise accents!
Just because you have a special event coming up doesn’t mean you have to go all out on an entirely new wardrobe. My advice is to splurge or invest on items that will make the most impact, and stretch your dollar the furthest, then reimagine other items in your closet to complete the rest. Both the top and pants I have on here are pieces I typically wear to my professional office. The jacket was also one that has been hanging in my closet for a while, and I knew it would really help add that western touch I was looking for in this look.
With the National Finals Rodeo fast approaching, I know one big pressing question among the ladies out there is, “what is the best solution to keep your feet from hurting after you’ve walked 10,000 steps trying to get all your shopping done at Cowboy Christmas?” Durango boots come equipped with a Cushion Flex insole for comfort immediately, so there is no reason to walk a mile in these boots before they feel like you’re walking on a cloud. Boots or booties, rather than heels, are always a smarter option all around when attending the NFR.
