As I’m sure all of you western fashion enthusiasts and rodeo ladies know, the National Finals Rodeo is now only a mere 30 days away. THIRTY! I swear I’m not panicking.. Everything is fine...
I have been traveling to watch rodeos my whole life; my mom is a professional barrel racer, and actually made it to the NFR in 2016, and my long-term boyfriend was a professional bareback rider up until two years ago. I love the excitement the sport brings, and championing the cowboys and cowgirls that put so much work and dedication into what they do. Traveling to rodeos with them over the years are what eventually brought me to start this western-fashion blog & Instagram!
So now here we are, combining my two loves of rodeo and western fashion, in preparation for the BIGGEST rodeo event of the year, with 10 days and upwards of 20 outfits to plan for! Now depending on how many days you are planning on attending the NFR, and how much of a statement you want to make with your outfits, you have probably started shopping for, or at least THINKING about what you are wanting to wear in Vegas this December.
I Rounded up a few pieces that I have either already purchased, as well as some pieces that fit into some trends that I’m predicting to be big hits for NFR this year. I’ll let you guess which pieces are which!

Suits are bound to be a big hit this year! I love the idea of a coordinating suit and pant set, especially in a bold color, with neutral accessories. Throw a felt hat on and a black clutch to complete this look!
Tall snake print boots have taken on the autumn season by story, but I think their cool tones make a great winter transition piece. Plus, what a statement they make! Since its Vegas, I pairs these silver full-fringe shorts with them, then kept the rest of the look neutral. I love how the snakeskin hat band from this Warbonnet Hat Works hat ties into the boots as well. All you need is a light jacket!
I threw in a few NFR trend predictions into this outfit: Leather, Metallic, Vintage. Is it too much? Maybe for some people. But you could easily throw on a plain top with the leather pants and still rock the vintage jacket, or try swapping out the leather pants for a neutral skirt to pair with the bold tops. I love how the Silver booties match this top! And again, I styled a Warbonnet Hat Works lid to match the pants and jacket. Jacket is vintage from Rice and Beans Collective.
I love the sparkle accents in the top and skirt of this outfit, while the additions are neutral and western. If you haven’t noticed yet, that seems to be a common why I style looks: Start with a statement piece or two, then balance it out with some neutrals! You could easily swap out booties for a neutral heel for a more dressed up look, if you prefer.
Last, but probably my favorite of the bunch! Velvet is always a go-to fabric in December, and this rust color makes a great statement! AND THIS FRINGE BELT? You betcha! These booties are some of Ariat’s new releases, and I’m slightly obsessed with the cutout tooling detail on the heel. Topped the look off with another Warbonnet Hat Works hat, and a statement squash blossom necklace form Buffalo Mercantile.
